Effigerm - Hypochlorous Multi-Use Sanitizing Spray
17 April 2020
Effigerm™ is an anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal sanitising product that kills 99.9% of germs on contact. It has no alcohol, contains shelf-stable hypochlorous acid and delivers the highest killing efficacy while at the same time being as neutral as water.
There are scientific studies that demonstrate Effigerm’s kill rate on pathogenic germs while also dermatologically proven to be hypoallergenic. It has been approved by the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine as a hand sanitiser and the US FDA has also recognised it be effective against killing Human Coronavirus.
So, what exactly is Hypochlorous Acid?
Hypochlorous acid (HOCI) is the main ingredient in Effigerm. It is an acid that is naturally produced in the white blood cells of all mammals and is used for many applications. The diagram below shows how hypochlorous is produced in the human body and how it kills pathogens. Effigerm works by following the same modality.
- Pathogens invade the body by entering the skin through a wound site.
- Neutrophils (a type of white blood cell) go to the infection site
- The Neutrophils then come to the invaders and engulf the pathogen.
- After surrounding, the neutrophil produces hypochlorous acid to kill it.
Due to its high germ-killing rate and being pH Neutral, Effigerm has a long list of possible use cases that you may not even think of like: eye infections, killing germs in neonatal hospital wards with premature babies, eczema, nappy rash, athlete’s foot, and even killing bacteria on fresh fruit and vegetables without even the need to rinse.
Effigerm is a pharmacy exclusive product and now comes in a 500ml, 250ml, 150ml and 60ml bottle. Call or email us today to place an order or to learn more about this multi-use product.
