Most recently, Fleming Medical supported an initiative by RCSI to help frontline workers with Facial Pressure Injuries (FPI) as a result of prolonged wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The report entitled “Comfort for Carers” wanted to highlight and “ensure that staff may work without harm from the use of equipment that is meant to be, in the first instance, protective in nature”.

26 york street Fleming Medical has also sponsored an in-patient room and mannequin birthing simulation in the York Street RCSI Centre for Simulation Education and Research which is located at 26 York Street, Dublin. The building puts Ireland at the global forefront of pioneering developments in the delivery of healthcare education. The centerpiece of the building is the 12,000sq ft Simulation Centre, which is laid out over three full floors. Here, students and healthcare professionals have access to a world class surgical and training suite with clinical skills laboratories, a mock operating theatre and clinical training wards. By working in this environment, you can get a sense of what life is like to work as a medical doctor, pharmacist or physiotherapist.
Fleming Medical is excited is to be working with the RCSI on some upcoming projects of which includes a focus on public health resources and training.

In the RCSI Alumni Awards 2021, which took place virtually this year, the Rising Star Award was sponsored by Fleming Medical’s sports therapy brand, Physiologix. The recipient was Mr. Stephen O’Rourke who graduated from the School of Physiotherapy in 2014. He is currently employed as the Senior Spinal & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at the Poynton SpineCare Institute, Dublin.
