Fleming Medical is delighted to offer its support to the Special Olympics

May 2010

Fleming Medical is delighted to offer its support to very worthwhile charities, causes and events, including Barretstown Camp, the Haven Charity, the Soul of Haiti Foundation & the upcoming Special Olympics in Limerick this summer. The 2010 Special Olympics Ireland Games will take place in Limerick from the 9th June to 13th June. Over 1900 athletes will travel to Limerick from the four corners of Ireland along with 650 coaches and officials. Over 2500 volunteers have been recruited to support what is certain to be the best Games yet and Fleming Medical is delighted to have donated medical supplies to help the athletes during this exciting 5-day event. “At Barretstown we put great emphasis on ensuring that all the children who come here are looked after medically, physically and emotionally. Eimear, our clinical co-ordinator always ensures that the Med Shed is fully stocked and equipped with everything needed to provide excellent medical care. With the support from Fleming Medical we can reach that goal much easier.” Dr. Niall MacNamara and Professor Cillian Twomey travelled to Haiti in April with The Haven Charity, to the Hospital Sacre Coeur, Milot in Northern Haiti. In the aftermath of the earthquake the hospital went almost overnight from being a 65-bed hospital to a 320-bed hospital and were in desperate need of medical supplies and equipment.
